Punjab 3rd in India with 166 Ethanol 20 blend petrol stations

Ludhiana: Punjab stands third across the country as far as Ethanol 20 blend patrol stations are concerned. Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh stand first and second, respectively.

Giving this information today, Sanjeev Arora, MP (Rajya Sabha) said this fact has come to the light in a reply given by the Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli on floor of the Rajya Sabha.

Arora said he had asked the Minister to reply to his questions about E20 petrol outlets in the country. He had asked about the update on ethanol mixing in the country; and the number of E20 petrol retail outlets in the country.

In his reply the Minister stated that under the Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme, ethanol blended petrol is being sold across all states of the country depending upon availability of ethanol. The target of 10% ethanol blending set in the ‘Roadmap for Ethanol Blending in India 2020-25’ for Ethanol Supply Year 2021-22 has already been achieved.

The Minister further mentioned in his reply that currently, the overall blending percentage as on July 23, 2023 is 11.77% and Oil Marketing Companies have started selling E20 (20% ethanol blended) petrol in more than 1600 retail outlets across the country.

Also, the Minister made available the State/UT wise details of E20 retail outlets, which is as under: Maharashtra (218), Uttar Pradesh (180), Punjab (166), Tamil Nadu (154), Haryana (129), Madhya Pradesh (104), Gujarat (93), Karnataka (82), Rajasthan (69), Andhra Pradesh (60), Kerala (52), West Bengal (52), Telangana (49), Delhi (43), Bihar (41), Uttarakhand (25), Jharkhand (20), Chhattisgarh (17), Orissa (14), Jammu & Kashmir (10), Himachal Pradesh (7), Goa (6), Puducherry (6), Meghalaya (5), Chandigarh (4), Daman Diu & Dadra Nagar Haveli (4) and Assam (1).
