Congress only party with internal democracy: Baghel

Punjab E News (PEN News): AICC general secretary in charge Punjab Bhupesh Baghel today said that the Congress was the only party in the country with internal democracy and which takes decisions with consensus, after taking everyone along. He said, it was time for the Congressmen in Punjab to remain united and fight the big battle against the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party which were two sides of the same coin.
Addressing the ‘Harr booth Mazboot’ programme here today, Baghel said that Punjab will lead the way for the Congress victory at the national level. “We need to get rid of the BJP government at the centre and the AAP government in Punjab”, he said, adding, “we will start with Punjab and throw away the corrupt and icompetent government and bring a people friendly government in the state”.
He said, while the Congress practiced internal democracy, nobody knew how the presidents and convenors were appointed in the parties like the BJP and the AAP.
Lashing out at the BJP government at the centre, he said, it was an all-round failure whether on the domestic or the foreign front. He pointed out, due to the failed foreign policy of the BJP, petrol, diesel, LPG, fertilisers had gone quite costly. He said, the prices of essential commodities had touched all time high and it was all because of the failures of the BJP government at the centre.
The former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister said, the AAP government in Punjab was equally worse. He pointed out, the AAP had made big promises and had failed on all of these. Instead, the AAP had given lawlessness and anarchy to Punjab with gangsters ruling the roost and ransom calls having become normal under its regime.
He said, Arvind Kejriwal has made Punjab and its government a hostage. He said, he has been exploiting Punjab and running Delhi, Gujarat and Goa from here. His entire team is deputed here to loot Punjab, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, PCC president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring called upon the workers to work together with discipline and dedication. He said, without makng the party strong at the grassroots no election can be won. He pointed out, in 2022, sitting and former Chief Ministers lost the elections, mainly because the Congress did not focus on the micro-management at the grassroots level, despite having done a great job between 2017 and 2022.
He exhorted upon the workers, the way they broke the Barnala citadel of the AAP in 2024 by-elections, their next target must be Sangrur to break the citadel of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. He said, Mann had proved to be the worst Chief Minister Punjab could ever have.
He said, the AAP has only given Punjab the gangsters, drugs and debt. Besides, it has not spared any section of the society by using the police to brutalise everyone whether the safai karamcharis in Barnala, the teachers, the PSPCL linemen, farmers and MGNREGA workers.
Speaking on the occasion senior party leader and former minister Ms Razia Sultana called upon the party high command to take strict action against all those who were indulging in indiscipline and damaging the party. She warned that in case timely action was not taken, the party can suffer major damage. Nip the evil in the bud, she remarked.
Among those present on the occasion included Brahm Mohindra, Dr Raj Kumar Verka, Kala Dhillon, Kulbeer Zira, Hina Kawre, Durlabh Sidhu and others.
Senior Akali leader and four-time Municipal Councillor from Lehra Gaga, Balwinder Kaur also joined the Congress on the occasion.
