Rs 2000 note helped keepers of black money, says P Chidambaram
New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Terming the move to introduce Rs 2,000 notes in 2016 as “foolish”, Chidambaram claimed that the currency had only raised money for those people.
“Banks have clarified that there is no need to give any identity card, fill any form or submit any proof for exchange of Rs 2000 notes. The BJP’s claim of demonetising Rs 2,000 notes to unearth black money has gone in vain.”
He said the common people do not have Rs 2,000 notes as they have been reluctant to keep them since they started in 2016.
