Trump condemns Pahalgam attack; says Putin stands with India against terrorism

Washington: At least 26 people were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, located in Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday. Security agency sources confirmed the casualties and said an investigation is underway.
Global leaders, including US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with India.
Trump, in a post on his social media platform ‘Truth’, wrote, “Very disturbing news has come from Kashmir. The United States stands firmly with India against terrorism. We pray for peace to the departed souls and recovery of those injured. We have our full support and deepest sympathy to Prime Minister Modi and the incredible people of India. Our thoughts are with everyone.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin also reacted to the incident, calling it a “cruel crime.” In a post on X, Putin said, “There is no justification for this cruel crime. Let’s hope that the perpetrators of the attack get appropriate punishment. I reiterate my commitment with the people of India in the fight against terrorism.”
He also offered condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
