Ludhiana: 13 police personnel sentenced to 5 years each in jail in 2003 corruption case

Ludhiana News: A court in Punjab’s Ludhiana district on Friday sentenced 13 police personnel to five years in jail. These police personnel were accused of corruption. 
      In 2003, complainants late Bittu Chawla and Subhash Kaity had filed a case against the accused.
Additional Sessions Judge Dr Ajit Attri pronounced the verdict after hearing arguments from both sides. 
Complaint was filed against 14 employees
      The complainant, Subhash Katy, said he had lodged an FIR against 14 police personnel for bribery. During this time, the police also filed a false case against him. Each police personnel was accused of taking a bribe of Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000.
      Even his videography was presented in the court. After this, the court has sentenced the culprits cops. 
      He said that in 2003, he and his friend Late Bittu Chawla used to run a lottery shop. The police personnel used to harass them every day. They also used to take money from them and later harass them. Due to this, they installed CCTV cameras in the shops. When the police personnel used to take money from him, he continued to be recorded in the video. Each police officer used to take bribe ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 4,000.
