After Centre’s rejection, Punjab to showcase Republic Day tableau across the state
Chandigarh: After the Centre’s rejection, Punjab plans to showcase the Republic Day tableau across the state in response to the central government’s decision to exclude it from the parade. Led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government aims to present the tableau depicting central discrimination to the people of the state starting from January 26. Initially, nine tableaux are being prepared, with the intention to increase their number continuously after the aforementioned date.
The AAP government has readied regular tractors to decorate the tableaux, which will be taken to every village in each assembly constituency of Punjab. An official highlighted that the primary purpose is to inform Punjabis about the central government’s refusal to recognize those who sacrificed their lives for freedom as martyrs. The government is also preparing audio content, and each village is expected to experience a 10 to 15-minute display of the tableau.
On December 27, the Chief Minister stated that the Government of India had excluded Punjab’s tableau from the national parade. Following this, BJP president Sunil Jakhar argued that the tableau was canceled due to the presence of pictures of Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal. However, the Chief Minister refuted this claim, citing information from the Union Defence Ministry.
Additionally, it has been revealed that a tableau will be displayed at Punjab Bhawan in Delhi, with AAP MLAs from Delhi having the freedom to carry this tableau to local areas.
