Bikram Majithia to appear in court today in drug smuggling case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by ADGP Mukhwinder Singh Chhina, has directed former Akali minister Bikram Singh Majithia to appear before it again on December 27 for further investigation into the drug smuggling case registered two years ago. Highly placed sources indicate that despite the invitation, Majithia is unlikely to attend. His absence is not linked to any urgent engagements.
There’s a notable lack of activity among the Akali workers in preparation for his second appearance, directly indicating his probable absence.
On December 18, he underwent seven hours of questioning by the SIT at the IG’s office in Patiala. Subsequently, summonses were issued for him to appear again on December 27.
The SIT is gearing up for questioning, as it lacks official information regarding Majithia’s absence. There’s a likelihood of another summons on December 28 or 29. This move aligns with SIT chief ADGP Mukhwinder Singh Chhina’s impending retirement on December 31, and the government aims to conclude Majithia’s interrogation before Chhina’s retirement.
