Chahal, a close aide of former CM, gets interim bail till January 25 in disproportionate assets case

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday granted bail to former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s close aide Bharat Inder Singh Chahal. The High Court has given him the benefit of interim bail till 25 January. In such a situation, he will not be arrested now.

Bharat Inder Chahal had filed a petition in the High Court saying that the present Aam Aadmi Party government is taking action against the leaders of the previous government and their close associates under political rivalry.

Under this, efforts are also being made to trap the petitioner. Chahal has appealed to the High Court to give him the benefit of anticipatory bail in the FIR registered against him in the disproportionate assets case.

Chahal said that despite his giving full details of all his bank accounts, assets and income to Vigilance, he is being implicated under political vendetta. Now 75 years old, he is ready to cooperate in the investigation. The High Court has adjourned the hearing till January 25, giving him the benefit of interim bail.
