CM orders probe into suspected procurement process of tarpaulins in grain markets of Punjab

Mohali: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has stopped the dubious process of procuring tarpaulins worth crores of rupees for food grain management in the wake of suspicious tenders and has also ordered an inquiry into it. For several months, there has been an internal hue and cry over tenders for procurement of tarpaulins by the procurement agencies, due to which many directors of the Food and Supplies Department have also been changed.
The Chief Minister has asked Food and Supplies Department Secretary Gurkirat Kirpal Singh to probe the allegations of increase in the prices of tarpaulins. It has also issued orders to cancel the tenders for the purchase of tarpaulins during the recently concluded marketing season of Kharif.
