Congress MLAs create ruckus amid Governor’s speech in budget session

Chandigarh: The budget session of the 16th Vidhan Sabha of Punjab began on Friday. The budget session began with a speech by Governor Banwarilal Purohit.

During the Governor’s speech, Congress MLAs created a huge ruckus and staged a walkout from the House. There has been an uproar in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha over the use of the word ‘my government’ or ‘sarkar’ by the governor.
As soon as Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit started reading out his speech during the budget tenure that began in the Vidhan Sabha today, he was addressed by saying the word ‘Meri Sarkar’. On this, leader of opposition Congress Partap Singh Bajwa stood up and objected that when the party does not respect you by calling you an appointed governor by Centre, then you should not describe it my government.
There was a lot of ruckus in the Assembly over this matter, so the Governor also listened to the opposition and started calling only the government instead of my government. To which Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann objected that he was only bound to read the speech passed by the cabinet.
There was a dispute on this matter for 5 minutes. Then the Governor started calling my government in the light of the cabinet decision. Due to which the table was also thumped by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the ruling party. The House has been adjourned till 2 pm.
