Punjab budget session begins today, to start with Governor’s speech

Chandigarh: The budget session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha begins today. First of all, the proceedings of the session will begin after the Governor’s speech at 10 am.

Earlier in the day, all the 92 AAP MLAs, including Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, will arrive in the Assembly. Then there will be the governor’s address and the proceedings of the session will proceed. This will be followed by a tribute to the departed personalities of Punjab in the afternoon.
The budget session of the 16th Punjab Vidhan Sabha, which begins today amid a political turmoil, will continue till March 24. The budget session this time is likely to be stormy as the session is being held amid a political rift between the chief minister and the governor.
The budget session will be held in two phases due to the events of the G-20 Summit. In the first phase, the session will run from March 3 to March 11 and the House will be re-assembled on March 22. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema will present the budget for the year 2023-24 on March 10. The first day of the budget session is likely to be interesting.
CM Bhagwant Mann will try to woo the people by showing a map of the development of the state for the next years with this budget. Aap will make efforts to fulfill the guarantees and incomplete schemes given to the people of Punjab.
At the same time, the opposition parties have also devised a strategy to corner the government on various issues of Punjab.
