Former CM Channi terms attack on IAF convoy an election ‘stunt’, BJP slams Congress

Chandigarh: Charanjit Singh Channi, the Congress candidate from Punjab’s Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat, made a controversial statement in the wake of the terrorist attack on the Air Force convoy in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir.

Now, politics has intensified over this matter. Sushil Kumar Rinku, who was declared the BJP candidate from Jalandhar, said, “The comment made by Channi is highly condemnable. Saying such a thing about the soldiers who are leaving their homes and sacrificing for the country shows the mentality of the Congress. I think it is an insult to the soldiers.”

Rinku said that Channi should apologize to the entire country for his controversial statement and stressed the importance of sharing stories of martyrs with youth and children to honor the soldiers’ sacrifices.

“Soldiers are dying to protect us. No one has the right to insult soldiers,” Rinku declared, targeting Channi and questioning his patriotism based on his statement.
