Demands of protesting farmers
The farmers under the banner of the Kisan Morcha will be holding protest across the country from November 26 to 28 on the call of the Samyuktkisan Morcha
1.A law should be enacted to guarantee remunerative MSP on all crops with a formula of C2 50% as per the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission.
The committee set up by the government in this regard and its declared agenda are contrary to the demands put forth by the farmers. This committee should be dissolved and a proper committee should be formed to guarantee the sale of all crops at remunerative MSP.
2. More than 80% of the farmers, who are in a huge debt trap, are being forced to commit suicide due to ever-increasing input costs and lack of remunerative prices for their crops. All kinds of loans of farmers and farm labourers should be abolished to get out of this debt trap.
3. The police cases that have been slapped on the farmers in many states and union territories during the farmers’ agitation should be withdrawn immediately.
4. The anti-people Electricity Bill 2022 should be withdrawn and the anti-people practice of implementing clauses like smart meters in pieces should be stopped.
5. A “compulsory crop insurance scheme” should be implemented to fully compensate the farmers for crop losses due to reasons outside their habitation, on which all the expenses incurred by the government should be borne by the government.
6. A provision of farmer pension of Rs 10,000 per month should be made for all farmers (including women) above 60 years of age.
7. a) Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni, an accused in the conspiracy to kill four farmers and a journalist in Tikonia town of Lakhimpur Kheri district of UP, should be dismissed from the post of Union Home Minister and sent to jail. All the accused in this murder case, including his son Ashish Mishra, should be given the strictest punishment.
8. b) The innocent farmers detained in the Lakhimpur Kheri massacre case should be released immediately unconditionally and the cases against them should be quashed. A government job should be given immediately to the next of kin of martyred farmers.
