Lehragaga: Farmer commits suicide due to debt

Chandigarh: A farmer committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house in nearby Lehal Kalan village last night. The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Satgur Singh. Gagandeep Kaur, wife of the deceased, recorded her statement with the police that her husband Satgur Singh owned two acres of land and had a government and non-government debt of Rs 10 lakh on his head.

He used to suffer due to the burden of debt on his head. Due to this, he committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in the room.
He was the father of a 6-year-old girl. Village sarpanch Jaswinder Singh Rimpi, Sahib Singh Panch, Janak Singh Panch and others have demanded the government to provide financial assistance to the family of the deceased. The police have handed over the body to the family members after conducting a post-mortem.
