Mahant shot dead in Jalandhar, family creates ruckus outside hospital late at night
Jalandhar: A mahant was shot dead near Ekta Nagar in Ramamandi in Jalandhar late on Monday night due to an old rivalry, police said. The deceased has been identified as Alisha Mahant alias Aloo alias Rohit.
The police had taken possession of the body late at night.
At the same time, the police have registered a case against the person named Billa under various sections including IPC sections 302 (murder), 452 (house breaking into the house), Arms Act. The search for the accused continued till late night.
As soon as the incident was reported, ACP Central Nirmal Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of Ramamandi Police Station Rajesh Thakur, City CIA staff in-charge Ashok Kumar, Chowki Nangalshama in-charge Madan Singh and other police parties reached the spot along with their respective teams.
After the death of Alisha Mahant alias Aloo, all the transgenders of the city created a ruckus outside Johal Hospital located on the Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur highway. Heavy force was deployed by Jalandhar commissionerate police late at night. The ruckus continued till late in the night, but the police somehow managed to convince all of them and end the ruckus.
ACP Nirmal Singh said that all the accused will be arrested soon.
