No need for certificate from Centre: CM Mann on Udham Singh’s national martyr status
Sunam News: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited his native town Sunam on the occasion of 84th martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh. On the question of giving national martyr status to Shaheed Udham Singh from the central government, Mann said that there is no need to take any certificate from the central government. Who is the central government that gives the status of national martyr to great martyrs? The 140 crore countrymen of the country give the highest status to such great heroes.
Mann said that if warriors like Shaheed Udham Singh, Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh are given the country’s highest Bharat Ratna, then it will increase the honor and dignity of Bharat Ratna. The people of the country already have a great status towards the martyrs. “Who is the central government to decide who is a martyr and who is not? Will such great martyrs need a certificate from any government?”
