Numberdar suspended by Jalandhar DC for burning stubble at his fields, Rs 5,000 fine imposed

Jalandhar News: Sarabjit Singh, the Nambardar of village Sihowal in tehsil Nakodar, has been suspended by Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate Special Vishesh Sarangal. This action was taken following charges of burning stubble in his fields.
The Supreme Court and the Punjab Government have enforced a ban on stubble burning after the paddy harvesting season and have ordered strict action against violators.

Lambardar Sarabjit Singh’s primary responsibility was to educate other farmers about refraining from stubble burning as per the directives issued by the Supreme Court and the Punjab Government. However, he disregarded these instructions and personally set fire to the stubble in his fields, officials said.
In addition to the suspension, Sarabjit Singh has been fined Rs 5000. He is required to appear in person on November 28 to provide his explanation.
