Stubble burning at 740 places in Punjab, breaks two-year record

Punjab E News: On Sunday, more stubble burning was reported in Punjab than in the last two years and 740 new cases were reported.          In 2021, 448 cases of stubble burning were reported on November 19 and 426 cases were reported in 2022. The total number of cases this season has gone up to 34459. On the other hand, there has been no improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI) of major cities of Punjab. On Sunday too, the air remained in the poor category.
       Moga district reported the highest number of 127 cases of stubble burning in Punjab on Sunday.  Besides, 151 cases have been reported from Fazilka, 100 from Ferozepur, 68 from Faridkot, 55 from Bathinda, 46 from Barnala, 57 from Muktsar, 28 from Sangrur, 12 from Patiala and 15 from Jalandhar. A total of 70,428 cases of stubble burning were reported till this time in 2021 and 48,915 cases were reported in 2022. 
       Bathinda recorded the highest AQI of 296 on Sunday. The AQI was recorded at 237 in Ludhiana, 247 in Mandi Gobindgarh, 229 in Patiala, 212 in Amritsar, 200 in Jalandhar and 174 in Khanna.
