61 Films In Different Languages Release This Friday

October 2022 is a big month for the Indian film industry with many big-ticket films releasing this month. While films like Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara Godfather and Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna starrer ‘Goodbye’ have already been released and running in theatres, many films like ‘Ram Setu’, ‘Thank God’ will release this month during Diwali weekend. 

This Friday (October 14) a record 61 films are releasing across multiple languages. From Hindi films like ‘Doctor G’, ‘Code Tiranga’ to India’s Oscar entry ‘Chhello Show’ to highly acclaimed Kantara’s Hindi version – all these films have been released on the big screen today. 

Apart from these films, a series of movies across all languages from Telugu to Tamil to Kannada to Marathi to Nepali have been released today in theatres near you. Twitter account CinemaRare tweeted the list of all the films releasing today.

Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh, ‘Doctor G’ is a medical campus drama which revolves around the life of Doctor Uday Gupta, who is the only male student in the gynaecology department of a medical college. The film also stars Shefali Shah and Sheeba Chadha in pivotal roles. The film is directed by Anubhuti Kashyap and backed by Junglee Pictures.

The espionage-thriller, directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, is the story of a spy on an unfaltering and fearless mission for her nation in a race against time where sacrifice is her only choice. Parineeti will be playing a RAW agent in the film.  The film also stars Harrdy Sandhu  Sharad Kelkar, Rajit Kapur, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Shishir Sharma, Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Deesh Mariwala. 

This Gujarati coming-of-age drama is India’s official entry for the 95th Academy Awards. Titled ‘Last Film Show’ in English, the movie is directed by Pan Nalin. ‘Chhello Show’ is a part-autobiographical drama that captures the charm of the western region of Gujarat while paying homage to the cinema of the past. It is a reminder of childhood innocence and the universal magic of the movies. The film stars Bhavin Rabari, Vikas Bata, Richa Meena, Bhavesh Shrimali, Dipen Raval and Rahul Koli. The story is set against the backdrop of cinemas in India witnessing a massive transition from celluloid to digital, where hundreds of single-screen cinemas stand dilapidated or have disappeared altogether. 

This Kannada film is India’s highest-rated film on IMDb. After getting rave reviews, the makers released the Hindi version of the film this Friday. Set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, Kantara is a visual grandeur that brings alive the traditional culture of Kambala and Bhoota Kola art form to the fore. The soul of the story is on human and nature conflict which is deeply rooted in the coastal culture and folklore of Karnataka.  Directed and led by Rishab Shetty, the movie also stars Sapthami Gowda in the lead. It also stars Kishore and Achyuth Kumar in pivotal roles. 

Saturday Night is a comedy-drama directed by Rosshan Andrrews . It stars Nivin Pauly, Aju Varghese, Siju Wilson, and Saiju Kurup in the lead roles. The plot revolves around four young cousins. Things change once one of them gets married.
