Chandigarh: Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj has called on Sikh families to take a more proactive approach towards the marriage of young men and women who are above the age of 30.
In his message, the Jathedar said families should take the initiative to find suitable matches for young people and should not hesitate unnecessarily when arranging marriages. He described the issue as not merely a personal matter but also one of importance to the Sikh community.
Jathedar stresses larger families
The Jathedar also encouraged Sikh families to have more children, saying families should ideally have at least three children, while leaving the decision regarding more children to the will of the Guru.
He said having more children should not be considered a matter of shame or embarrassment.
Citing the example of Bhai Mani Singh and his family, the Jathedar said Bhai Mani Singh was one of 12 brothers. One died during childhood, while the other 11 were martyred. He said the Sikh community today is the successor to that legacy and should connect future generations with it.
Calls for stronger connection with faith
The Jathedar also urged parents to connect their children with the Guru, religion and Gurbani. He stressed the importance of families and communities living together harmoniously and moving forward while remaining in Chardi Kala.
