New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Saturday said it had arrested three men from Punjab for allegedly writing pro-Khalistan and objectionable slogans, including anti-BRICS messages, near the Singhu border on the outskirts of Delhi.
Police suspect the involvement of the banned organisation Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) and alleged that the graffiti was written at the direction of its US-based chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
The arrested men have been identified as 31-year-old Pritpal, Harminder Singh and Niranjan. Police said their movements were traced through CCTV footage from the Singhu border area and other locations, following which the three were arrested in Punjab.
According to police sources, the slogans were allegedly written on September 6 in Alipur, on Delhi’s outskirts, at the direction of SFJ and Pannun.
Pritpal had been arrested earlier
Police sources claimed that Pritpal was out on bail and was allegedly working as SFJ’s operational head in India. He had previously been arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell in 2023 over allegations of writing pro-Khalistan slogans at several locations in the capital ahead of the G20 Summit.
Pritpal and another accused, Rajwinder Singh, were allegedly involved in writing slogans such as “Delhi Banega Khalistan” and “Khalistan Zindabad” on walls at locations including Shivaji Park, Madipur, Paschim Vihar, Udyog Nagar and the Maharaja Surajmal Stadium Metro station.
Officials said Pritpal was released on bail earlier this year and allegedly continued coordinating SFJ activities while out on bail.
The allegations are part of the police investigation and have not been independently established.
