New Delhi: India defeated Afghanistan by 127 runs in the third and final T20 International at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday, completing a 3-0 series victory.
Batting first, India posted 221/7 in 20 overs before Afghanistan were bowled out for 94 in 14.1 overs.
The standout performer was Abhishek Sharma, who smashed 108 off 34 balls with nine fours and 11 sixes. He reached his century from just 30 deliveries, breaking Rohit Sharma’s Indian record for the fastest T20I hundred. Rohit had scored a 35-ball century against Sri Lanka in December 2017.
Abhishek’s century is also among the fastest in T20I cricket globally. His 30-ball hundred is listed as the third-fastest, behind Estonia’s Sahil, who scored a 27-ball century against Cyprus in June 2024, and Turkey’s Mohammad Fahad, who reached three figures in 29 balls against Bulgaria in July 2025.
The century was Abhishek’s third in T20 cricket. He eventually fell for 108 at a strike rate of 317.64.
Abhishek and Sanju Samson put India in control with a first-wicket partnership of 142 runs from 59 balls. Samson contributed a 35-ball fifty featuring four sixes and two fours.
Captain Shreyas Iyer added 29 runs, including two sixes, although India lost wickets towards the end of the innings and could not maintain the same scoring momentum.
For Afghanistan, Ibrahim Zadran top-scored with 25, while Azmatullah Omarzai made 17. Omarzai also took two wickets for 27 runs.
India’s bowlers then dismantled the Afghanistan batting line-up. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravi Bishnoi claimed three wickets each, while Axar Patel took two. Jasprit Bumrah and Yash Thakur picked up one wicket apiece.
India’s emphatic victory sealed a 3-0 clean sweep in the three-match T20I series.
