London, Ontario: A 41-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder after a woman died following a violent incident at a residence in London, Ontario.
Police said emergency services were called to a home on Chelton Road at around 6:25pm on September 15 after reports of an injured woman. Officers found her with serious injuries and paramedics took her to hospital, where she later died.
The man was detained at the scene and was subsequently identified as Mandeep Singh, 41, a London resident. Police have charged him with second-degree murder.
Other members of the family were reportedly inside the house at the time. Police said no other family member suffered physical injuries. The identity of the deceased woman has not been released.
The London Police Service Major Crime Section is leading the investigation. Chelton Road was temporarily closed in both directions while officers and forensic specialists examined the property and collected evidence.
Police have described the case as a femicide investigation and said intimate-partner violence remains a serious concern for the community.
Neighbours have reportedly described the area as a quiet residential neighbourhood. Some residents said they saw children and an elderly woman leaving the property after the incident, but these details have not been officially confirmed by police.
Mandeep Singh remains in custody. The charge is an allegation and has not been proven in court. Singh is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
