Kaithal News: A 15-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) workshop organised by the Kaithal district unit of the Media Wellbeing Association (MWA) concluded successfully, with 30 journalists from print, electronic and social media completing the training programme.
The workshop was organised with the collaboration of R.K.S.D. College, Naveen Avsar International Skill Centre and White Banger, with the objective of helping journalists understand emerging AI technologies and adapt to the rapidly changing media landscape.
Certificates were distributed to all participating journalists during a ceremony held on Sunday at the R.K.S.D. College campus.
The initiative was undertaken under the inspiration and guidance of MWA National President Chandra Shekhar Dharani, General Secretary Dr. Surendra Mehta and Treasurer Tarun Kapoor. The Kaithal unit described the programme as a practical step towards equipping journalists with technological skills required in modern journalism.
MWA representatives said that knowledge of AI is increasingly becoming a professional requirement for journalists, particularly in areas such as news research, information gathering, content creation, digital journalism and effective use of social media platforms.
Dignitaries Attend Certificate Distribution Ceremony
R.K.S.D. College President Ashwani Shorewala was the chief guest at the certificate distribution ceremony.
Among those present as special guests were Navneet Goyal, President of R.K.S.D. Pharmacy College; Pankaj Bansal, General Secretary; Gagan Mittal, Principal of R.K.S.D. College; Bimal Thakur, In-charge of Naveen Avsar International Skill Centre; Abhishek Gupta, Director of Edu Us International Pvt. Ltd.; Sanjay Sharma, Director of White Banger; and Naveen Malhotra, Senior Vice President, North India, Media Wellbeing Association.
The visiting dignitaries were welcomed and honoured by MWA Kaithal President Sukhvinder Saini, Vice Presidents Suraj Saharan and OP Saini, General Secretary Mohan Nayak, Treasurer Vikram Yadav, along with Lalit Yadav, Sunil Jangra, Mohit Gulati, Pravesh Bahadur, Vinit Garg, Rajesh Kaith and other journalists. The guests were presented bouquets, mementos and shawls.
MWA Working Continuously for Welfare of Journalists: Naveen Malhotra
Speaking on the occasion, Naveen Malhotra, Senior Vice President of MWA North India, said the organisation has been continuously working for the welfare of journalists and their families.
He said the organisation is working to provide journalists with free accident insurance policies of ₹10 lakh each. Efforts are also underway to provide journalists with term insurance and cashless health insurance facilities.
Malhotra said initiatives such as the AI workshop would help journalists remain technologically equipped in a rapidly changing media environment. He noted that understanding new technologies is becoming increasingly important for news research, fact gathering, content development and the effective use of digital and social media platforms.
Journalists an Important Link Between Society and Government: Ashwani Shorewala
Ashwani Shorewala, President of R.K.S.D. College, said journalists play an important role as a bridge between society and the government.
He said journalists communicate the problems and expectations of the public to the government while also informing people about government policies, schemes and achievements.
Shorewala appreciated the journalists for learning AI with the enthusiasm of students and said that understanding AI has become an important requirement in the changing media landscape. He also appreciated MWA National President Chandra Shekhar Dharani and Kaithal District President Sukhvinder Saini for their efforts towards the welfare of journalists and their families.
Skill Centre to Create Better Opportunities for Youth: Navneet Goyal
Navneet Goyal, President of R.K.S.D. Pharmacy College, said the R.K.S.D. Naveen Avsar International Skill Centre would prove to be an important initiative for the youth of Kaithal.
He said the college management considered the proposal to establish the skill centre after MP Naveen Jindal raised the initiative. The objective was to complement formal education with practical skill training.
According to Goyal, hundreds of young people are receiving training at the centre and the initiative could help them pursue employment opportunities as well as explore better career prospects abroad. He expressed gratitude to MP Naveen Jindal for the initiative.
Journalists’ Welfare Efforts Will Continue: Sukhvinder Saini
Sukhvinder Saini, District President of MWA Kaithal, thanked all the guests, journalists and partner organisations for their support in making the workshop successful.
He said the organisation would continue working for the welfare of journalists and their families. Connecting journalists with new technologies in the changing media environment would remain one of the organisation’s priorities.
Saini said the successful completion of the 15-day AI workshop demonstrated that modern journalism is not limited to reporting news but also requires journalists to understand emerging technologies and use them responsibly.
He added that the initiative undertaken by Kaithal journalists under the guidance of the MWA leadership could serve as a useful example for journalists in other districts as well.
