Chandigarh: A fresh round of discussions between the Punjab government and Sri Akal Takht Sahib over the Jagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026, is set to begin with a meeting of the government-appointed seven-member coordination committee on October 6.
The meeting will be held at 12 noon in Chandigarh and will discuss the suggestions given by Sri Akal Takht Sahib regarding the Act.
The committee will review various provisions of the legislation and consider ways to coordinate with the panel constituted by Akal Takht Sahib. According to the government, the objective is to consider the suggestions of the concerned parties while maintaining the spirit and sanctity of the law.
Who is on the seven-member committee?
The Punjab government constituted the coordination committee on September 16. Its members are:

The October 6 meeting is expected to focus on the provisions of the Act and the suggestions submitted by the Akal Takht panel.
