CBI summons three associates of Punjab CM’s OSD Rajbir Ghuman in alleged corruption probe

Chandigarh: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned three associates of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Rajbir Singh Ghuman, for questioning in a corruption case. Nitin Gohal, Jitin Gohal and Bir Devinder Singh have been asked to appear before the agency on Sunday.

According to reports, the three had been summoned by the CBI on three previous occasions but did not appear. They are now expected to join the investigation for the first time. The agency has previously questioned Bir Devinder Singh’s father, while the Gohal brothers are also set to appear for questioning for the first time.

Bir Devinder Singh is currently the vice-president of the Aam Aadmi Party’s youth wing and has previously contested a zila parishad election on the party’s ticket.

The CBI registered a case on October 5, following directions from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, against Ghuman, Nitin Gohal, Jitin Gohal alias Raja, Romi Raja Mahajan, Bir Devinder Singh, R.S. Nagra and unidentified government and private officials.

The FIR concerns allegations of corruption involving transfers and postings of officials, interference in policy decisions, tenders and arms licences, among other matters. The allegations are under investigation and have not been established in court.

The High Court has given the CBI two months to complete its investigation.
