Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday said his government follows a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and asserted that the law is equal for everyone.
His statement comes amid the political controversy surrounding the alleged suicide of warehousing officer Gagandeep Singh Randhawa and the resignation of former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar.
Without naming Bhullar directly, Mann said that if anyone is found responsible for wrongdoing or forcing someone to take an extreme step, it will be investigated thoroughly. “Whether it is our minister or anyone else, the law is equal for all. The law is taking its course,” he said.
Meanwhile, Randhawa’s family has refused to allow postmortem until the arrest of Bhullar and other accused. His wife Upinder Kaur reiterated that the family would not proceed with last rites until justice is ensured.
The issue has triggered a major political storm in Punjab, with opposition parties staging protests outside the chief minister’s residence and demanding strict action in the case.
