NIA registers case against Amritpal’s brother-in-law for attack on Indian high commission in Canada

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered a case against Amarjot Singh, brother-in-law of Amritpal Singh, the head of Waris Punjab De.
A mob of Pro-Khalistan supporters attacked the Indian High Commission in Ottawa, Canada on March 23, 2023. During this time two grenades were also thrown on the building. The mob was led by Amritpal Singh’s brother-in-law Amarjot Singh.
     NIA officials have confirmed it. It has also been reported that the federal agency has also registered an FIR in connection with the attack on the Indian Embassy in San Francisco. In this case also, eight Khalistan supporters including Baba Sarwan Singh have been identified.
In the second case related to the attack on the Indian Embassy in San Francisco in the United States on March 18-19, the NIA has named eight Khalistan supporters Baba Sarwan Singh, Amandeep Singh Virk, Lakhbir Singh, Gursharanjit Singh, Harpreet Singh, Sandeep Singh, Gurcharan Singh Khalsa, Jaspreet Singh Lovala and unidentified persons.
     The NIA had taken over the cases to probe Pakistan’s links in the attacks on Indian high commissions and federal embassies, besides the ongoing investigation into a similar attack in London on March 19.
