Shocking: Gym enthusiast murdered over jealousy in Punjab

Patiala: In a shocking incident in Punjab’s Patiala district, a 25-year-old gym enthusiast, Harpreet Singh, hailing from Jaimal Colony in Nabha, was brutally attacked and subsequently succumbed to his injuries after ten days of treatment.

The heinous crime, driven by envy towards his well-built physique, has sparked outrage in the community. Deceased Harpreet, a regular at the local gym, had garnered attention for his impressive physique, police said.

However, jealousy brewed among some individuals including Balwinder Singh, who frequented the same gym. Envious of Harpreet’s physical prowess, Balwinder, accompanied by several accomplices, launched a vicious attack on Harpreet on the evening of February 10th.

The assailants, armed with sharp-edged weapons, inflicted severe injuries on Harpreet, leaving him in critical condition.

Harpreet’s mother, Surjit Kaur, said that her son was targeted solely due to his physical appearance. He received 42 stitches on his head, pushing him into a coma. He succumbed to his injuries 10 days later during the treatment.

Meanwhile, on the basis of the statement of Surjit Kaur at Kotwali Nabha police station, a case of murder has been registered against the accused Balwinder Singh resident of village Jolia (recent resident Hira Mahal) Nabha, Soni Sensi resident Kheri Godia, Sikander resident Boda Kalan, Thulli resident Ramgarh and some unknown accomplices.
