Meet Hayer and Harjot Singh Bains invite maximum players to participate in Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan

Sports Minister and Education Minister drew up the program of competitions according to school games and examinations

Chandigarh: To make Punjab the leading state of the country in sports under the direction of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, after the success of the first season of ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’, a suitable and conscious environment has been created for maximum number of players to participate in the second season. The second season is starting after grand opening of the games at Bathinda on National Sports Day (29th August).

     Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains held a joint meeting with the officials of both departments to ensure the participation of maximum number of players in the block, district and state level competitions of ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2023’. On the instructions of both Cabinet Ministers, the program of sports competitions has been drawn up according to school games and school examinations calender so that students can get equal time for sports and exams.

     Sports Minister Meet Hayer said that eight age group competitions are being conducted for 35 sports and since there are school students in the younger age groups, it was decided today that the sports and education departments should make a joint sports calendar. He said that the program has been drawn according to the school examinations, and now the block level tournament will be held from 31 August to 9 September, the district level tournament from 26 September to 5 October and the state level tournament from 10 to 25 October. The block competitions of the younger age groups will be held in the early dates and the district competitions will be held in the last dates so that the education of the players is not affected and they can prepare for the examination.

     Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that according to the dates of the sports competitions, the education department is preparing the examination date sheet so that maximum number of students can participate in the sports. He said that the Examinations will be conducted in between block and district level competitions.

    The meeting was attended by Special Chief Secretary Sports and Youth Services Sarvjit Singh, Secretary School Education KK Yadav, Special Secretary Sports Anand Kumar, Deputy Director (Physical Education) Sunil Kumar and Deputy Director Sports Parminder Singh Sidhu.
