Ludhiana: Senior BJP leader Nitin Nabin has summoned Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon and Srinivasulu to Delhi for an urgent meeting, prompting speculation within the party ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
The two leaders were in Ludhiana on Saturday for a meeting with the newly constituted Punjab BJP state executive and district presidents. A separate meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) was also scheduled in the city. However, following instructions from Delhi, Dhillon and Srinivasulu left the meeting midway and departed for the national capital.
The official agenda of the Delhi meeting has not been disclosed. However, party sources said growing dissatisfaction within the Punjab BJP following the formation of the new state executive could be one of the reasons behind the meeting. Former minister Tikshan Sud and his supporters have already resigned from their posts in protest against the new team.
Another section of the party believes the meeting could be linked to the BJP’s Punjab election strategy and may follow earlier discussions held by Union Home Minister Amit Shah with senior Punjab leaders.
According to sources, BJP’s BL Santosh and Nitin Nabin are expected to meet Dhillon and Srinivasulu in Delhi.
The development comes a day after Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, fuelling fresh speculation about a possible revival of the SAD-BJP alliance ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
