Toronto: Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal has expressed his displeasure with Air Canada, alleging that he was moved to an economy-class seat despite paying the full fare for a business-class ticket.
In a post on X, Grewal said he was surprised to find himself assigned an economy seat after boarding the flight. He claimed that when he raised the issue with airline staff, he did not receive a satisfactory explanation and was instead told that nothing could be done.
Grewal said he was not seeking any additional privileges but simply wanted the business-class seat he had booked and an explanation for the change. According to his account, staff allegedly told him to either take the flight or leave it. He further claimed that after repeatedly questioning the decision, he was threatened with being removed from the aircraft.
The actor also said that no apology was offered during the incident, which he described as particularly disappointing. The incident reportedly occurred on Air Canada flight AC1504 from Toronto to New York.
After Grewal’s post gained attention on social media, Air Canada responded on X, expressing regret and apologising to him. The airline asked Grewal to share his booking reference and complete details through direct message so that it could investigate the matter.
Air Canada has not yet publicly explained why Grewal was allegedly seated in economy despite holding a business-class booking.
