Barnala: Barnala Police have arrested Saudagar Singh, father of Shaganpreet Singh, former manager of late Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh alias Sidhu Moosewala, in connection with the recent firing at Punjabi singer Gulab Sidhu’s house in Farwahi village on the outskirts of Barnala.
Saudagar Singh was arrested from Khanna in Ludhiana district while Khanna Police had produced him before a local court in connection with another case registered in the district.
His arrest comes days after Barnala Police claimed to have arrested nine people, including two alleged shooters, in connection with the firing. The accused are reportedly residents of Sangrur district.
Barnala SSP Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam said, “During the investigation, the role of Shaganpreet and his father Saudagar Singh came to light. Saudagar Singh was arrested on Thursday in connection with the firing at Gulab Sidhu’s house.”
The SSP said police were trying to arrest some more people and had therefore not shared details with the media earlier. He added that the investigation was still underway and further details could not be disclosed at this stage.
Six rounds fired at singer’s house
Saudagar Singh is a resident of Chari village in Fatehgarh Sahib district.
According to police, around 1.30am on the intervening night of September 12 and 13, three masked men arrived on a motorcycle. Two of them allegedly fired at least six rounds at the main gate of Gulab Sidhu’s house.
No one was injured in the incident. The bullets hit the gate and exterior walls of the house. Police recovered six empty .30-bore cartridges from the spot.
Two alleged audio clips surfaced after the incident in which gangster Balwinder Singh alias Doni Bal reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Barnala SSP also said members of Shaganpreet’s family had previously been arrested by Khanna Police in some cases.
Shaganpreet is wanted by Mohali Police in connection with the 2021 murder case of Youth Akali Dal leader Vikramjit Singh alias Vicky Middukhera and is believed to be in Australia.
