Goa: Veteran actor and filmmaker Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75 after suffering a severe cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa, according to hospital sources.
Patekar was reportedly found unconscious at his home and was rushed to Manipal Hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors attempted to revive him through continuous cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for around 45 minutes, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
He was declared dead at approximately 5:20 am on Thursday. According to reports, a medico-legal case (MLC) has been registered and a post-mortem examination is expected to be Nana Patekar, whose real name was Vishwanath Patekar, was one of Indian cinema’s most respected performers. Over a career spanning several decades, he earned widespread recognition for his powerful performances in Hindi and Marathi films and also worked as a director and writer.
His death has come as a major shock to the Indian film industry, with fans and colleagues mourning the loss of one of the country’s celebrated veteran actors.
