Parvinder Jhotta’s family gets CRPF security as body remains unclaimed for 18 days

Mansa: The family of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhotta has been provided security by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) amid concerns over potential threats, as the family continues its protest demanding justice for his killing.

As of October 30, 18 days have passed since Jhotta was killed. His body remains at the Mansa civil hospital, where the postmortem has not yet been conducted.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has also advised the family to have the postmortem conducted at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh. However, the family and the action committee formed to seek justice for Jhotta have not agreed to the proposal.

They are demanding the resignations of Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann and director general of police Gaurav Yadav.

The prolonged delay has raised questions about the condition of Jhotta’s body and whether it could affect the preservation of evidence or the legal proceedings in the case.

Concerns have also emerged over whether decomposition may have begun and whether the delay could compromise the reliability of forensic findings. The impact, if any, would depend on the body’s preservation conditions and the nature of the forensic examinations required.

The family and the action committee continue to press for justice, while the question of conducting the postmortem remains unresolved.
