Chandigarh: The Punjab government has carried out a major reshuffle at the municipal corporation level, transferring Jalandhar Municipal Corporation Commissioner and IAS officer Sandeep Rishi.
According to the orders issued by the state administrative department, Amritsar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Surendra Singh has been appointed as the new commissioner of Jalandhar. IAS officer Pallavi Mishra has been given charge as the new Amritsar Municipal Corporation Commissioner.
The changes have come into effect immediately.
Surendra Singh, who was serving as Amritsar municipal commissioner, will now oversee civic administration in Jalandhar. Improving civic amenities, strengthening sanitation and ensuring timely completion of pending development works are expected to be among his key priorities.
Pallavi Mishra will take charge in Amritsar, where improving sanitation, expediting development projects and strengthening basic infrastructure are among the key challenges.
Sandeep Rishi to focus on GMADA
Sandeep Rishi is currently posted as Chief Administrator of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA). He had been given the additional charge of Jalandhar Municipal Corporation Commissioner while continuing his primary responsibility at GMADA.
Following the latest reshuffle, Rishi will focus on his role at GMADA, while the additional charge of Jalandhar Municipal Corporation will now be handled by Surendra Singh.
The reshuffle is aimed at streamlining municipal administration and improving the delivery of civic services and development projects in the two major cities.
