New Delhi: The elder brother of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was allegedly murdered during his honeymoon, has accused the victim’s wife Sonam Raghuvanshi of misleading investigators from the beginning of the case.
His remarks came after the Supreme Court on Wednesday questioned Sonam’s conduct and advised her to surrender and face trial in Meghalaya in connection with the alleged murder of her husband in May 2025.
Raja’s elder brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, alleged that Sonam and her family had consistently made false statements about the circumstances surrounding his brother’s death.
“My brother’s murder deserves justice. Sonam and her family have been lying about the case from the beginning,” Vipin said, adding that his family has full faith in the judiciary.
Vipin said he had travelled to Meghalaya several times following his brother’s death and would cooperate fully with the investigation and court proceedings if required.
“If I am summoned by the Meghalaya Police or any court in connection with my brother’s murder, I will certainly appear. I want justice for my late brother and will do everything I can to help the case,” he said.
Sonam was arrested on June 9, 2025, on allegations of conspiring to murder her husband. She spent more than 10 months in judicial custody at Shillong District Jail before being granted bail. The Meghalaya government has challenged the bail order before the Supreme Court.
