Shamli: YouTuber and Haryanvi singer Ankit Balyan was shot dead by unidentified attackers outside a gym in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district.
According to police, the incident took place in the area under Kotwali police station when Balyan was leaving the gym.
Police said the attackers arrived on two motorcycles and opened several rounds of fire at Balyan. He died at the spot.
Superintendent of Police M.P. Singh said the body had been sent for post-mortem examination and an investigation was underway. Police teams have been formed to identify and arrest those responsible.
CCTV footage being examined
Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers and establish the sequence of events.
There had been speculation that Balyan was planning to contest the upcoming panchayat elections. However, authorities and his associates have not officially confirmed whether this had any connection with his killing.
Balyan had more than 3.66 lakh YouTube subscribers and appeared in videos as a singer and performer alongside various collaborators. Several of his videos featured guns, weapons and SUVs.
