Post-mortem to be conducted today in presence of family after Mukhtar Ansari’s death due to heart attack, Section 144 imposed in UP

New Delhi: Gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari passed away in Banda on Thursday due to a heart attack he suffered while in Banda jail. He was subsequently admitted to Banda Medical College.

The postmortem of Mukhtar’s body is scheduled to be conducted today in the presence of his family. His son Omar has demanded a judicial inquiry into his father’s death.

According to reports, Mukhtar Ansari was brought to the hospital in a critical condition and was unconscious upon arrival. A statement from the hospital indicated that he received medical treatment from a team of nine doctors but unfortunately passed away during treatment.

Following this, section 144 has been imposed across Uttar Pradesh, and security has been increased in several districts including Banda, Mau, and Ghazipur. Police have also conducted flag marches in cities like Prayagraj and Firozabad. After Mukhtar Ansari’s death, security measures have been heightened around the Banda Medical College campus.

Mukhtar Ansari turned from a criminal background to politics, contesting the Lok Sabha elections in 1996 on a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket. Despite being incarcerated, he contested and won multiple elections. Mukhtar Ansari faced over 60 serious criminal cases including murder, robbery, and kidnapping, resulting in the seizure of assets worth more than 500 crores.
