Stubble burning has not increased pollution in Delhi this time, vehicular smoke is causing toxic air: Study

Punjab E News: The air quality (AQI) is deteriorating every day in the Delhi. Right now it is in the dangerous category. Stubble burning is believed to be the major reason for the rising pollution in the neighboring states of Punjab, UP, Rajasthan and Haryana, but according to a study, the reason behind the increasing pollution in Delhi this time is not stubble burning or fire in the fields.
The share of stubble burning in Delhi’s pollution has been recorded lower than in the last few years. The share of internal sources of pollution in Delhi has increased.
Anumita Roychowdhury, executive director of the Centre for Science and Environment, said that their recent report found that PM 2.5 levels in Delhi-NCR rose by 68 per cent within 24 hours on November 2, which was shocking. Due to this, the crisis of pollution suddenly deepened.
