Tractor carrying pilgrims to Ganga bath falls into pond, 15 including seven children killed

New Delhi: A major road accident occurred in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh, as a tractor trolley carrying devotees heading to bathe in the Ganga overturned into a pond. Tragically, 15 people, including 7 children and 8 women, lost their lives in the accident, with the possibility of the death toll rising further.

The accident happened when the tractor trolley, attempting to avoid a vehicle approaching from the front, plunged uncontrollably into the pond. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the incident and extended condolences to the families of the victims.

While many lives were lost in the accident, numerous others sustained serious injuries. Four children are in critical condition and have been rushed to the hospital. All the victims hailed from Chhote Kasa village under the jurisdiction of Jaithra police station. They were en route to Kadarganj Ganga Ghat in Patiyali, Kasganj, to participate in bathing rituals on the occasion of Magh Purnima.

The tragic incident occurred near Garhai village on the Daryawganj Patiali road under the jurisdiction of the Patiyali police station. The accident coincided with Magh Purnima, a day when a large number of devotees gather to bathe in the Ganges, adding to the poignancy of the event.
