Centre accepts Punjab government’s suggestion, removes condition of bringing coal through Odisha

Chandigarh: The Centre has removed the condition of bringing coal from Odisha by sea, accepting the Punjab government’s suggestion.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had opposed the Centre’s decision. After this, Mann also met the Union Power Minister in Delhi. The CM has expressed gratitude to the Union Power Minister for removing the condition.
In their meeting, the supply of solar energy from Madhya Pradesh was also discussed and increasing the capacity of the mine near Pachwara was also discussed.
Earlier, the central government had sent a letter to PSPCL stating that coal from mines for Punjab will reach Paradip Port by rail and from there to Mundra Port, then from Mundra Port to thermal plants of Punjab by rail. Mundra Port is operated by the Adani Group. After this, opposition to this decision started.
