DM ISSUES PROHIBITORY ORDERS ON STUBBLE BURNING

Jalandhar News: District Magistrate Vishesh Sarangal has imposed ban on the burning of paddy stubble in the jurisdiction of district.  

       Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, District Magistrate told that the burning of paddy stubble produces several poisonous gases which harm human health and pollutes the environment. He told that the burning of the paddy stubble causes irreversible damage to the texture of soil and kills several nutrients available in the soil. He said that burning of stubble also led to problems in the movement of the traffic due to thick layer of smog and could cause road mishaps.  
      Sarangal said that the ban would be in force till November 30, 2023.
