Dr. Baljit Kaur held a review meeting with Additional Deputy Commissioners from various districts and NGOs regarding various Scheduled Caste schemes

Instructions were issued to concerned officials to send list of initiated schemes and centers to head office of department within one month

Chandigarh News: The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to uplifting the economic status of Scheduled Castes. Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities of Punjab, Dr. Baljit Kaur, provided this information, stating that, to achieve this objective, scheduled caste children will receive training in various trades, enabling them to become capable of securing their own employment.

       Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur mentioned that the aim of the Punjab Government is to improve the social and economic condition of the youth belonging to scheduled castes and backward classes.

        Dr. Baljit Kaur discussed in detail the implementation of the Scheduled Castes Abhyuday Yojana with district officials and NGOs, inquiring about the progress of various projects. She addressed the problems arising from this scheme and immediately instructed the officials to resolve these issues. She further directed the District Officer to expedite the training process for Scheduled Caste children in collaboration with NGOs, enabling them to earn a livelihood.

        Dr. Baljit Kaur added that under the Scheduled Caste Abhyuday Yojana, approximately Rs. 8.97 Crore have been disbursed to different districts for the training of 3440 Scheduled Caste youth in various trades.

        The Cabinet Minister also ordered the NGOs to promptly provide the lists of trainees to the respective Deputy Commissioners/Additional Deputy Commissioners after completing the necessary procedures so that further processes can be completed on time. She also instructed the concerned officials to send the list of initiated schemes and centers to the head office of the department within one month.

        During this event, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Department Director-cum-Joint Secretary S. Raj Bahadur Singh, along with senior officials of the department were present.
