Governor Banwari Lal Purohit’s appeals to Punjabis to unite to uphold the honor and glory of Punjab

Punjabenews: The Governor of Punjab Mr. Banwari Lal Purohit called upon all Punjabis to unite to uphold the glory and honor of Punjab. He was interacting with panches, sarpanches and other dignitaries of the border villages of the district fazilka here today.

  Mr. Banwari Lal Purohit said that Punjab has had a glorious history and after independence, Punjab has played an important role in making the country self-reliant in food production. The heritage of this state is very rich and every inch of its soil tells the story of sacrifice, but our neighboring country is trying engage in a proxy war by attacking our youth through drugs. He appealed to the people to be aware of such tactics and said that only when we inform the police against the bad elements of the society, we can break this network.
The Governor lauded the efforts made by the Fazilka Civil and Police Administration  in checking the drug menace and said that Village Defence Committees have been formed in 106 villages in the district through which the security agencies in the border areas as well as the common people are now keeping vigilance against the bad elements.  He appealed to the sarpanches to be more vigilant and said that the identity of the informer of drug trafficking activity will be kept secret. He said that in Fazilka district, the police have made large seizures in the past.

  The governor also alerted the people about attempts being made to harm the brotherhood of Punjab and the unity and integrity of the country by the anti-national elements and said that the patriotic people of Punjab will not be misled by them anymore. He said that national interest has always been paramount for Punjabis.

  Later, when the issue was raised by the sarpanches of the villages, Governor said that the possibilities of taking the fencing near the zero line are being explored, while as per the demand of the farmers, the BSF has also been instructed to resolve the problems of farmers on priority basis.

    Governor Banwari Lal Purohit also advised the farmers to grow millet’s. He said that farmers can increase their income by cultivating low water crops, adopting drip irrigation system and farming with new farming techniques.
While talking to the journalists, the governor said that he has written to the central government that the participation of the youth of Punjab should be increased in the Agniveer scheme. He also said that he has also sent recommendations to the central government for the economic development of the border areas.

  Earlier, Chief Secretary Mr. Vijay Kumar Janjua while welcoming the Governor Mr. Banwari Lal Purohit said that the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has decided that 2200 posts will be created in the police department every year.  With this, the youth will be constantly aware of their study and physical well-being. Apart from this, the government will also continuously recruit in other departments so that our youth can be engaged in constructive activities.
  On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal IAS thanked everyone including the Governor Mr. Banwari Lal Purohit from the district for attending the event.

   Meanwhile, Governor Mr. Banwari Lal Purohit also saw an exhibition regarding the efforts being made to stop drugs in the border areas. On this occasion, Punjab DGP Mr. Gaurav Yadav and Rakhee Gupta Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Governor also reached Fazilka with him.Abohar MLA Mr. Sandeep Jakhar, DIG Mr. Ranjit Singh, SSP Mr. Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, ADC Mr. Sandeep Kumar and Mandeep Kaur were also present on this occasion.
