Huge quantities of plastic carry bags seized from two factories

Jalandhar News: In its special drive against stocking and manufacturing of plastic carry bags, the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) raided two factories and seized large quantities of banned material.

       Executive engineer Sandeep Kumar said the PPCB had launched a special campaign against storing and manufacturing plastic carry bags and raids were conducted on the premises of 15 plastic-based industries by the board. Large quantities of illegal plastic carry bags were seized during raids by the team.
       The team comprising Gaurav Kashyap and Engineer Manwinderjeet Hundal headed by Kumar visited M/s Kivi Overseas located in the Wariana complex. The team found manufacturing of plastic bags on the premises and seized around two tonnes of carry bags there. Later, the team inspected the industry namely M/s Marvel International in the local Bhagat Singh Colony was found manufacturing plastic carry bags and seized 473-kg bags.
Kumar said that teams were constituted to keep surveillance and prevent the movement of stocked plastic carry bags, if any. He said that the Punjab government had imposed a complete ban on manufacturing, stocking, distribution, recycling, selling, and using plastic carry bags in the state with effect from April 1, 2016.
        Kumar said that action was being taken against both factories for violating the orders. He also directed other industries not to manufacture any kind of carry bags, storage etc and if any industry found violating guidelines, then strict action shall be taken against the industry in future
