NOW DIAL TOLL-FREE NUMBER 1033 FOR ANY KIND OF EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE ON NATIONAL HIGHWAY

Punjabenews:  Following the directions of Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started installation of signage indicating toll-free number for any kind of emergency assistance on the highway.

Divulging the details, the DC said that during the previous road safety committee meeting, the directions were given to NHAI to install maximum signage boards along the highway to help passengers with free ambulance, crane and any other emergency assistance, if they required. Mr. Singh further stated that the free-of-cost emergency services like ambulance and crane etc. are provided at toll free number 1033 by the authority to facilitate passengers but due to lack of knowledge about these services, a large number of people face trouble at highway during vehicle breakdown or in the event of a medical emergency. He further added that the directions were issued to NHAI officials to install maximum signage boards alongside the highway to inform passengers about the availability of these free emergency services.

Pointing out further, the DC said that the highway authority has also started repairing road cuts (entry and exit points) to prevent any kind of road mishap at these crucial sites. He said that the senior officials from the district administration are also monitoring the ongoing works at national highways on a daily basis to save precious lives of passengers.
