Punjab Government forwards five names to Governor for appointment of VC of Baba Farid University

Chandigarh: Punjab’s Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) is likely to get the go-ahead to appoint a new vice-chancellor this week. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government has sent a panel to Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Prohith to recommend five names.
It has also been learnt that the committee, headed by Punjab Chief Secretary V K Janjua, first discussed the names of five candidates, including PGI Dean Professor Dr Rakesh Sehgal, PGI Nuclear Medicine Department Professor Baljinder Singh, Rajindera Medical College Patiala Professor KK Agarwal, GMC H32 Chandigarh’s Former HOD Professor Jagdish Chandra and Delhi-based Professor Rajiv Sood.
   The panel sent by the Punjab government to the Governor of Punjab has been confirmed. This week, it is expected that the file sent by the Governor on behalf of the Punjab government will be sent back in a sealed envelope, officials said.
