Residents laud the Punjab government for promoting industry and tourism in Pathankot

Pathankot: Local residents of Pathankot have commended Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government for its dedicated efforts in promoting industries and positioning Pathankot as a prominent destination on the tourist map.

Ajay Trehan hailed the Punjab government for developing Dhar Kalan in Pathankot as a tourist destination and suggested the establishment of the Pathankot Dhar Dhunera Development Authority. He said that infrastructure, such as sheds, offices, and residential colonies, constructed for the Ranjit Sagar Dam on a significant portion of land owned by the PSPCL remains idle. He proposed that this sector could be developed as a green industry if the government takes initiative. He also advocated for the promotion of agro-forestry in the Dhar area.

Another resident, Sunil Mahajan demanded an increase in the limit of the one-time settlement scheme for traders of the Punjab government from Rs 1 crore to unlimited. He praised the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government-trade meet, stating that the program would foster a pro-business environment in the state.

Vivek Chaudhary urged for a special package for the industry in Pathankot and e-auction of vacant spaces at the focal point in Pathankot to stimulate trade.

Maninder Singh said that in the absence of a large hospital in Pathankot, residents have to go to other districts for treatment He said that there is urgent need to construct a large hospital with super-specialty facilities in the area. He also urged the government to incentivize youth to pursue business and employment opportunities in Punjab instead of going abroad, advocating for awareness campaigns in schools and colleges. Additionally, he recommended that the Punjab Government offer scholarships to deserving and meritorious students in Punjab’s educational institutions, taking cues from the Delhi Government’s initiatives.

Stating that Pathankot’s significance for adjoining areas of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir as a vital supply hub due to its convenient road connectivity with other states, Vivek Madehya suggested that the Punjab government develop Pathankot as a supply hub to facilitate the distribution of goods to various locations.
