Restaurants, Clubs or licensed eating places ordered to close down by 12 AM

Jalandhar: With an aim to ensure the maintenance of law and order in the jurisdiction of this Commissionerate of Police Jalandhar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankur Gupta ordered that all restaurants, clubs and any other licensed eating places must be shut down completely by 12 am (midnight).
Exercising the powers vested under section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure Act 1973, Gupta directed all restaurants, clubs or any licensed eating place to not to take any order for food, beverages etc after 11.30 pm and no new customer should be allowed to enter in its premises after 11.30 pm. In case of Ahatas attached to liquor vends, these should be completely shut down by 12 am.
Further, all these establishments must adhere to sound level of 10 db. All the sound system including DJ, live singing or orchestra should be switched off or volume lowered at 10 pm. After 10 pm, no sound produced within any establishment or campus should be heard outside the boundary. In case of vehicles with music system, the volume of system must not be heard outside the vehicle at anytime of the day.
In a separate order, DCP also prohibited the shopkeepers to encroach the outside area of their shops and road/ footpath to sell the eatables and other items.
These orders will remain in force till February 5, 2024.
